Review of polo blue cologne 2022

First, let’s know a little bit about the polo blue cologne family.

Polo Blue EDT is the first member of the polo blue family. It was released by Ralph Lauren back in 2003. EDT became a massive hit for Ralph Lauren. Polo blue EDT was the first perfume by Ralph Lauren that people know of. Its fruity and citric opening with patchouli base notes made this scent the iconic fragrance that is still carrying its legacy.

Smell

Let’s first talk about Polo blue EDP

The smell of polo blue EDP is super fresh with citric top notes. So, you can imagine its as a complete aquatic perfume for formal and casual settings. The opening is fruity and fresh but when you let it dry for 1 hour you will smell the woody musky notes of the scent.

I would also like to mention that smell of POlo blue parfum is better than the original polo blue which is the EDT version. So, is POLo blue EDP the best-smelling perfume by ralph Lauren, well I don’t think so. Why? you will know the answer below.

You will love the smell of POlo blue EDP if you never used the latest version of POLo blue. If we put it in the designer perfume category and compare it with other perfumes in the market, I would say it is not the best but at the same time, it is not the worst.

I think this is the perfect perfume if you are just starting to use designer perfume. So, in the smelling segment, I would give this perfume a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Smell of EDT

Polo EDT is the massive hit fragrance by Ralph Lauren that created the polo blue family. So basically all the perfumes in the polo blue family smell in some way similar to the original EDT version. So, you will get a cucumberish and melon fresh smell when you spray it on yourself.

If we compare it to EDP then EDT is more suited for mature users than young ones. When you smell both perfumes just after spraying they both smell similar in some way. But as you let the perfume dry off, you will feel the smell of EDP more appealing than the EDT. So, in terms of smell, I will give Polo blue EDT a solid 3 out of 5 stars.

Notes

Polo Blue EDP

  • Top notes- Cucumber, Melon, Mandarin orange
  • mid notes- Sage, Basil, Geranium
  • Base notes- Musk, Suede, Woddy

Polo Blue EDT

  • Top notes: watery melon accord, cantaloupe melon accord, bergamot oil, and cucumber accord.
  • Middle notes: aquatic accord, clary sage oil, geranium oil, and basil verbena oil.
  • Base notes: washed suede accord, patchouli heart, and sheer musk accord.

The Polo Blue Eau De Toilette by Ralph Lauren features a watery melon accord, cantaloupe melon accord, bergamot oil, and cucumber accord. These top notes give the fragrance a fresh and aquatic feel that is perfect for summer.

The middle notes of aquatic accord, clary sage oil, geranium oil, and basil verbena oil add a touch of floral and herbaceous character to the mix. I personally like the middle notes of this fragrance more than the top notes.

The base notes of washed suede give the fragrance a warm and sensual finish that makes it perfect for evening wear.

Longevity

The longevity of the fragrance is decent, it can last up to 4 to 5 hours if you spray it on your body. But if you spray it on your clothes, it can last up to 8 to 9 hours. So, I’m not impressed by its longevity but because I have a small bottle of it, I can carry it with me and spray it again if needed. So if I have to give stars to Polo for longevity, I will give it 3 stars.

If you are thinking about which last longer then there is doubt it is Polo blue EDP because it contains more fragrance oil.

Silage and projection

So those of you who don’t know silage is the term used to describe the smell or impression it leaves on people around you, Whereas projection is how far the smell of perfume can travel.

In the case of polo blue cologne silage is pretty good, it is a compliment-getter. It leaves a long-lasting impression on people around you, especially if you are wearing it in the summer. The mixture of aquatic and fruity fragrances is enough to turn the heads of people.

In the case of projection also, polo blue is good. People that are standing 4 to 5 feet from you can easily smell the fragrances. However, the power of projection starts to fade away after 2 hours, I would expect it to be more than this. So in terms of projection, I will give polo blue 3 out of 5 stars.

Price

The price of this polo blue EDP is $100 for a 125 ml bottle on Amazon. However, the same bottle of 125ml will cost you $119. I think price wise it is the best deal, especially when you look at the brand and the smell of the fragrance. This can become your signature perfume as it is worthy of it. So, if you want to try designer perfume and don’t want to make mistake then polo blue is one of the best options. For EDT the price is less which is around $55 on Amazon.

Design and packaging

The design and packaging of polo blue parfum are better than the old original EDT version. It has a silver lining on the sides which gives a more premium vibe. The cap of the bottle also looks more premium that the EDT version. In the EDT version, you don’t get any silver embellishments on the sides or top, it has a more round shape in comparison to the EDP version of polo blue.

However, the latest version of polo blue such as the gold blend looks more premium and designer perfumes. But in the end, I think designing is not that important, you pay for how it smells.

EDT vs EDP, which is better

If you are confused between EDP and EDT then I would suggest you go with EDP without any hesitation as it smells better than EDT. Though the difference is minimal you will definitely notice it when you try both colognes.

However, if you are looking for the best option in the Polo blue fragrance family then the king is Polo blue gold blend, it is the latest release of Ralph Lauren in the polo blue family with some improvements.

So what changes and how did the polo blue gold blend become the king by beating the iconic original polo blue EDT and EDP?

Well, firstly I liked the overall design of the bottle. Ralph Lauren added a premium vibe to this edition by providing gold metallic lining on the sides and top of the bottle.

But what makes this more effective is the smell. You do get a similar smell like Polo blue EDP with an opening of ginger, fruity and fresh smell but with the blend of modern fragrances, which gives the vibe of Bleu de Chanel.

Lastly, it is heavier than other members of the polo blue fragrance family, which means you can wear it on colder days as well. Overall it is a more versatile option.

But if you are a fan of the classic and iconic smell of polo blue then you should definitely go with Polo Blue Eau de parfum or its original EDT version.

You can also go with the deep blue option which is the latest release of Ralph Lauren. But I would suggest this to younger people rather than people over 25 years of age.

Where you can wear Polo blue Eua de parfum?

Polo Blue by Ralph Lauren is a versatile fragrance that can be worn in a variety of settings in summer. Though you can wear the iconic fragrance on most occasions, but for surety here is a list of occasions that are perfect for this fragrance.

It is perfect for office wear, as it is professional and sophisticated. It is also great for events, as it is both elegant and playful.

For weddings, Polo blue is the perfect choice for one who wants to feel stylish and confident. And for casual day outs, Polo blue is perfect for those who want to feel relaxed and comfortable.

However, avoid wearing Polo blue on cold days, as it is an aquatic scent with lighter notes for winter days. For beach days, Polo blue gold blend is the perfect way to enjoy the sun and the sand.

Conclusion-

Overall, I can say that polo blue deserves a place in your wardrobe if you love fragrances. However if you just want to buy a single designer perfume for yourself that can get you compliments and you can wear it everywhere, then I would suggest you go with the best Dior Sauvage. Overall, I would give polo blue 3 out of 5 stars, considered a designer perfume.
