While there is no perfect time to start your skincare and there’s nothing better cooler than a simple ice cube. Applying ice on the face is like cold therapy to speed up functional recovery. The popularity of ice as a healer to the skin is simple to explain but does it helps with the open pores? After you detox and steam your face, should you apply an ice cube to close the open pores? Need an answer? Keep reading if you are curious about the chilling ice.
Yes, ice cubes close the open pores on the face. Ice is the quickest and easiest way to close the pores after cleansing or steaming. Instead, it is one of the steps to do after steaming your face, if you are not using an exfoliate. Also, Open pores can make your skin look old and sick.
So even if you have oily, sensitive, or dry skin, ice won’t harm your face. When you cleanse your skin, the dirt and oil are removed from the pores, but there are high chances of accumulating more if pores are left open. What a cold ice cube does is, it tightens the skin which helps minimize enlarged pores and also stimulate blood circulation. Hence preventing them from future oil clogging.
Ice constricts your blood vessels and soothes inflammation. When you cool your face with ice, you remove tiredness on your face, improves blood flow, and brightens your complexion, and thus, the skin gains instant glow.
To get healthy and natural freshness on your face, just rub a piece of ice cube wrapped in a clean cloth for about 1-2 minutes. It will not only help to remove the extra oil from the pores but also closes the pores by shrinking their size.
To get better results follow a circular massage around the cheeks, lips, nose, and every part of the face.
Once you are done let the face dry off naturally for about 10 minutes.
We only suggest you applying ice on your face every alternate day or twice a week if you have dry skin. Everyday rubbing can drop to extremely low temperatures on the face and often leads to dryness and flakiness.
Rubbing ice on your face every day can irritate your skin and cause flakiness. But if you wear a lot of makeup every day, or stay in light and screen, apply ice on your skin after removing all the makeup for about 10 minutes every day. Don’t rub, gently massage for better results.
Directly applying the ice cube on your face can damage your skin, so always wrap it in a cloth. To cover all the parts or the face with a full circular massage it can take up to 20 minutes.
Make sure you don’t over massage in the same area for 10 minutes.
For 30 minutes you will be engaged in your icing skincare routine to close the pores and recover the skin.
But in winters, it is recommended not to apply it daily. Use weekends or once a month to continue your icing process.
What should we apply on Face daily for Glowing Skin?
How often you should steam your face?
Ice cubes don’t have to be only frozen water. To give your skin a healthy massage, try adding multiple ingredients that feel like a nutritional massage.
Rosewater is my favorite. It not only cleanse the skin and help remove makeup but a storehouse of glow. Adding into your ice cube will reap all the benefits. A gentle massage of this cube after a tiring day at work is enough to clean up your skin and brighten your mood.
Adding a few spoonfuls of aloe gel is the best moisturizer if you have dry skin. Whether you apply the fresh aloe after icing or mixed in an ice cube, either way, aloe vera gel maintains its healing properties and soothes sunburn and acne.

Drinking green is always healthy for the skin and metabolism. Apply it on the face to absorb the natural ingredient directly. Green tea is so antibacterial that we use it in our steaming water. Green tea finds no spot where it cannot fit human needs.
Coffee is just not a beverage, but a lot more. Caffeic acid also has antimicrobial properties, which means that it may help protect the skin against germs. It helps scrape the dead skin cells and stimulate the blood flow.
Lactic acid present in the milk is good for a lot of skin problems. Not only it cleanse the pores also it tightens them and keep the skin hydrated. Milk can give you an even skin tone, remove tan from your face, repair fine lines, and can improve your complexion
To end the cooling effect, after 10 minutes of massage with an ice cube apply natural moisture and leave overnight if you are icing at night. You can also use cream if you have dry skin.
But if you are using any other time, you can use a toner. This way the skin moisturize naturally.
One useful tip: When you wake up the next morning, practice hand massage with fingertips. This will stimulate the blood flow on the face.
